art by OSYRIS

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Osyris grew up immersed in the rugged beauty of nature, spending much of her childhood on horseback. Her love for athleticism, history, and spirituality naturally led her to an animistic worldview—a faith that finds spirit and significance in all things natural. These passions form the backbone of her art and life. Her ultimate dream is to live as a full-time artist in the Philippines, surrounded by the mountains, her horses, and the echoes of a deeply rooted ancestral connection.
Osyris' art is a reflection of her dual heritage—African American and Filipino—and her ongoing journey to decolonize herself and her audience. This is at the heart of Echoes, a project that seeks to teach precolonial Filipino history while honoring African American contributions to the United States. It’s a deeply personal work, inspired by the brave spirits of her ancestors—whom she describes as the "pavers of the way"—and her commitment to uplifting her community through storytelling, symbolism, and celebration.
In addition to exploring her heritage, she also shares her passion for cars with the automotive community through fine art. She sees cars not just as machines but as extensions of identity and creativity, and her work seeks to honor that connection.
On a lighter note, she has an upcoming polymer clay line called Whimsyclay, featuring whimsical little creature companions for those looking to carry a spark of joy in their pocket.
Her "original characters" will debut through her fine art before appearing in a dark fantasy novel she is currently writing, planned for release in late 2025 or early 2026.
Currently, she is studying fine arts at Loyola Marymount University. Growing up in a family of artists, she was constantly inspired by the creative energy around her, which shaped her own artistic DNA. Through all her work—whether celebrating heritage, crafting small wonders, or writing epic tales—she aims to connect people to their own stories, their neighbors, and the beauty of the world we all share.

"History is my teacher.
Art is my Voice.
I am She. I am Her.
I am a Disruptor.
I am a Ceiling Breaker.
I am Good Trouble.
I am the Sovereign daughter descended from Kings and Queens.
I am a Slave Descendant."
