Head Hunters
Head Hunters is a fine arts project dedicated to uncovering and sharing the richness of precolonial Filipino society, emphasizing its deep spirituality, reverence for the land and nature, and the intricate artistry of its traditional clothing and jewelry. Central to the collection are motifs like the crocodile, a once-sacred symbol of power and protection that was demonized by Christian colonizers, reflecting the erasure and distortion of indigenous beliefs. The project seeks to evoke awe, wonder, and fear, immersing viewers in a world of untamed beauty and sacred reverence. Beyond its aesthetic impact, Head Hunters functions as a tool for disidentification, challenging colonial narratives and encouraging a reclamation of cultural identity through a powerful visual and historical exploration.
